"My biggest fear was that people would judge me because I’m not a Christian"

I didn’t pay attention to the Bible and I didn’t care about who God is. I could not believe in God who was just in the book.
When I was in 12th grade and started looking where I could be studying and I knew that LCC International University was American based university, so I gave a try. I was invited to come for the interview and one of the questions were related with my religious beliefs. My short answer was that I am a Catholic.
My freshman year was difficult because I had some issues with my family and it was hard to adapt to the new environment that was diverse at LCC. I remember going outside at 5am, I sat down and I said: God, if you are there, send me anything, any sign from You I will accept. In my first LCC year I had one conversation after which I didn’t want to have anything to do with Christians. So my first year passed and I didn’t do anything to understand Christian faith and the Bible. The following semester I had a required Bible class and the first view about God and the Bible was given from Prof. Tom Boone. He didn’t preach, didn’t tell us that you need to believe. After that class with him, I came back to my room and said to my roommate: Dude, I’ve no idea what’s happening with me, but I am more and more interested in the Bible. We had a lot of conversations with the Professor, he listened to me because I had a lot of questions and he explained everything in a very simple way. He was not judgmental because my biggest fear was that people would judge me because I’m not a Christian. After having conversations with other people about God as well, I realized that I need Him: not because I had a difficult time, but my heart was empty. Something was missing in my life.
Cara Oxley was my sign given from God. She was going with me through difficult times that I had and she saw that change when I turned to God. Everything changed for the better when I met Him. I met new people who were wise, friendly, loving, and they were so honest with me.
Though I still have questions about God, but I know that He is with me and He has prepared a journey for me.
Things that we have today are just material and we will not need them for the Eternal life. People who say that God is for depressed people should really think about what they need in their lives: money, work, house, car or spiritual things that would fulfill them.
